The first ten issues of the ever-inventive Fantastic Four, perhaps Marvel's single most enjoyable series during their hallowed early 'Sixties superhero era. Nothing to complain about in this fab, full-color reprint; these stories would cost thousands of dollars to purchase in their original form, here you can enjoy them at your leisure, without having to worry about selling a kidney in order making your next house payment. The Human Torch, The Invisible Girl, The Thing and Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic... 'Nuff said!!

"Marvel Masterworks v.7: The Sub Mariner"
By Stan Lee and Bill Everett
(Marvel Books, 2002)

This book skips from the amphibious monarch's 1939 origin to the inception of his Silver Age series, running opposite the Hulk in their three-year run in Tales To Astonish. These were cherished stories from my own early years collecting Marvel back-issues; it's nice to have these serialized cliffhangers gathered to gether in one book, since it seems like there were always a couple of these issues that were hard to track down. Bill Everett was such a masterly illustrator... I'd love Marvel to put out his classic '40s and '50s Subby stories as well!

"The Golden Age Of Marvel Comics, v.2"
By Jack KIrby, Bill Everett, et al
(Marvel Books, 1999)
