The Mercey Brothers were a Canadian country band featuring siblings Larry, Lloyd and Ray Mercey, a family band that started in the late 1950s and became chart-toppers a decade later. The Mercey Brothers "Country" (RCA Victor, 1972) (LP)
(Produced by The Mercey Brothers)

Soft-toned countrypolitan from Canadian country siblings Larry, Lloyd and Ray Mercey, who offer a set half of covers, and half original material written by the Merceys and by several composers who were signed to their publishing company -- Homer Lee and the songwriting duo of Bruce Rawlins and Terry Carisse. They also cover Kris Kristofferson and contemporary Nashville such as Ray Griff and Freddie Hart, along with pop hits such as Delaney Bramblett's "Never Ending Song Of Love" and John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads." You pretty much see where this was headed, right? The vocals remind me a lot of Bill Anderson -- inocuous though unelectrifying. It's okay for what it was; they had a string of hits up in Canada, although they never saw any chart action in the United States.
